Privacy Policy — Bilibili Video Downloader

1. Purpose

Bilibili Video Downloader is a Chrome extension that lets you download supported videos from bilibili.com and bilibili.tv directly to your computer. It includes tools to manage download queues, pause and resume downloads, recover interrupted downloads, and review your download history.

2. Information we handle

With the website access granted in Chrome, the extension processes information on Bilibili webpages and permitted Bilibili frames, including:

Website content: Video titles, thumbnails, player information, playlists, audio and video tracks, and video files.
Web history information: Page URLs, media URLs, website names, and source links associated with detected videos, queues, downloads, and troubleshooting events. The extension does not access Chrome’s browsing-history database.
User activity: Network requests used to detect video sources, download progress, timestamps, download status, errors, file sizes, and download duration.
Authentication information: Monitored request headers may contain session cookies or authorization tokens needed to retrieve media using an existing website session. The extension does not ask users to enter website passwords.
Settings and file information: Language, theme, download preferences, queues, retry information, filenames, saved-file references, and user-selected diagnostic folder access.

Network monitoring is limited to eligible requests to permitted Bilibili page and media hosts associated with Bilibili tabs. Request headers can be captured before a request is identified as a video request.

3. How information is used

Information is used to:

Detect and display available video sources.
Download media and combine audio and video.
Manage download queues, progress, and recovery.
Maintain download history and open saved files.
Preserve user preferences and diagnose download problems.

Session credentials and signed media URLs may be required to access media available through the user’s existing website session.

4. Storage and retention

Settings, queues, detected-media information, download jobs, retry information, history, and diagnostic logs are stored locally in the browser profile. Temporary media data may also be stored locally while downloads are assembled.

Captured request-header profiles are held temporarily in memory and pruned by age. Temporary media request rules may contain headers required for downloads.

Queues and preferences remain until changed or removed. History retention follows the extension’s settings. Diagnostic logs have a bounded event limit and can be cleared in Settings.

Temporary media cleanup occurs during normal processing. Interrupted downloads may leave temporary data until cleanup occurs or the extension’s storage is removed.

Downloaded videos and exported reports are saved on the user’s computer.

The extension connects to Bilibili websites, their APIs, embedded players, thumbnail hosts, and content delivery servers to retrieve playback information and media.

These services receive information associated with network requests, which may include the user’s IP address, requested URLs, referrers, and applicable session credentials. Their handling of this information is governed by their own privacy policies.

The extension has no developer-operated analytics or automatic upload service for download history or diagnostic logs. It does not include advertising or data-sale integrations.

Diagnostic reports are saved or copied when the user chooses an export action. If a user shares a report for support, its recipient receives the information included in that report, which may contain video titles, URLs, filenames, and error details.

6. User controls

Users can:

Manage website access through Chrome’s extension settings.
Remove queues and download-history entries.
Clear diagnostic logs.
Remove the extension to delete its extension-local settings and data.

Removing a history entry does not delete the downloaded video. Downloaded videos and exported reports remain on the computer until the user deletes them separately.

7. Limited use

Information is used to provide and support the extension’s video-download features. User data is not used or transferred for personalized advertising, unrelated profiling, or creditworthiness or lending decisions.

The extension’s use of information is subject to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated when the extension’s data handling changes. The revision date will appear at the top of this page.
